Installation Instructions
 Valid License Required to Complete

(*Vista users, please click here for special instructions.)

CakeBoss System Requirements:

  • Internet Connection for installation (Broadband is best – Dialup users may need to purchase an installation CD).  You do NOT need an internet connection to run CakeBoss, only to install and receive updates.
  • Windows 2000, XP, or Vista (Vista requires a different installation routine)
  • Internet Explorer as your default browser
  • Your computer must be up to date on all Microsoft Critical Updates and Service Packs
  • .NET Framework 2.0 (This is an optional Microsoft Update that many people already have installed)
  • 80 megs hard drive space

Before you install CakeBoss, make sure your computer is ready!

1. Set Internet Explorer to be your default browser.  If you always use IE, it's still a good idea to check. (If you use a different browser, you can go back to using it after installation is complete.) To change IE to default browser, open IE and click Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Check box to tell IE to check. Then restart IE.

2. Check to see that you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer.  Go to http://update.microsoft.com and click 'Custom'.  Wait for it to search, then when it finishes, click 'Windows XP' (on the left side of the screen, under 'Select by Product').  It will then search your computer for available updates.  If .NET Framework 2.0 shows up on the list of available updates, download it, then restart your computer if you are instructed to do so.  If you do not see .NET Framework 2.0 on the list of available updates, then it is already installed and you may proceed to step 3.

3. Check to make sure you have all Microsoft’s latest high priority updates.  Go to http://update.microsoft.com and click the “Express” button. Download and install all high priority updates.  If you have all your high priority updates, your screen will look like this.

4. Now you're ready for CakeBoss!  Go to www.cakeboss.com/publish.htm and click 'Install', then 'Run'.  When CakeBoss asks for a license key, copy and paste the key you received with your purchase in your welcome email.
